When HBO announced it would not release any press screeners for the sixth season of Game Of Thrones in advance of its premiere to prevent spoiler leaks, there was a major public outcry.

But we live in America — and unlike Westeros, no matter how daunting a task it may be, people WILL find a way to watch sh*t for free!

Last week, the showrunners of the fantasy series revealed that Barack Obama would be allowed to watch the highly-anticipated sixth season before anyone else.

But that admission might have been a huge mistake — because according to a journalist, the public could be entitled to Obama’s secret screener under the Freedom of Information Act!

After Vanessa Golembewski, a feature writer for Refinery29, heard that POTUS was getting the screeners, she decided to file a FOIA request in hopes of getting new episodes before their release!

In an article titled Only Obama Gets Game Of Thrones Screeners, So I Filed An FOIA Request For Them, Golembewski explained that she submitted the request on Thursday, writing:

“If the president and by extension, our government is in possession of a file, surely that file is subject to my request to see it as a U.S. citizen.”

While there are nine clauses of exemptions to the act, the journalist asserted that “TV episodes were still fair game”.

Of course the clock is ticking. The request still needs to be evaluated and processed before a deliberation is made to reveal the file.

And since the new season premieres within a matter of days, we have a feeling the powers that be will just delay this until we all find out what happened to Jon Snow and find something else to be upset about! LOLz!

Either way, we applaud Golembewski for sticking it to the Iron Throne and filing a request — now we know what to do for next year if Obama gets early screeners for season 7!
