Emilia Clarke: It’s scarier to talk ‘Han Solo’ than ‘Game of Thrones’

If actress Emilia Clarke is only taking on projects shrouded in secrecy, she certainly knows how to pick ’em. The 30-year-old actress will soon return to our TVs as aspiring queen Daenerys Targaryen, but she’s also up to her eyes in unshareable secrets about the untitled Han Solo project.

No one knows anything. No one is told anything. Its all crazy, Clarke told The Mercury News about Game of Thrones’ final season, due in 2018. Its a secret from the cast. We generally cant be trusted. They pretty much have told us so.

Okay, so how about some Han Solo teasers? Clarke is part of a cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and more. Harrelson has been happy to oblige fans with a few tidbits, whether or not Disney likes it.

I genuinely cant tell you anything other than Alden is magnificent, and its a delight to do something on that level with really cool actors and nice people,” Clarke went on to say. “But its even scarier talking about that than Game of Thrones.

‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 photo hints at Jon learning his true parentage

‘Game of Thrones’ photos beg the question: What is Littlefinger doing?

Latest Game of Thrones photo shows Cersei sitting pretty on the Iron Throne

(CNN)“Game of Thrones” fans have something to while away the hours as they wait for the seventh season of the popular TV series to resume in July.

Close to 9 million people tuned for the Season 6 finale, which left three characters racing to claim the Iron Throne. And judging from the latest photos, the ongoing themes of revenge and redemption are still going strong. After being punished for her sins of incest, Cersei Lannister is now sitting pretty on the Iron Throne, with a crown on her head and her twin/lover, Jaime, dressed as a knight, at her side.
In the last season, Cersei epically blew up her capital, King’s Landing, and killed off her adversaries — the religious leader, the High Sparrow, and her former daughter-in-law, Queen Margaery.
Cersei’s rivals for the throne are back too — Jon Snow, in his usual fur and leather get-up, and Daenarys Targaryen, looking regal in a dragon-scale-like dress and cape. Jon, newly resurrected-from-the-dead, has been crowned head of his homeland, Winterfell. And Daenarys, last seen sailing clear across the world with her late husband’s people, the Dothraki in tow, looks ready to fight for the crown.
The Hound, a former Lannister loyalist, is also back, perhaps in pursuit of the ones who massacred the peaceful community he sought refuge with in Season 6.
The other photos don’t reveal much. Littlefinger is with Sansa Stark in Winterfell, with Sansa looking solemn in black and fur. The usual suspects are represented too — Davos Seaworth, Arya Stark and Brienne of Tarth — which might be a relief, because the series is known for killing off beloved characters.
And in what is probably the least gratifying plot line, Meera Reed is still dragging Bran Stark off in the snow somewhere.
Based on George R. R. Martin’s novels set in the the Middle Ages, the popular HBO fantasy series is one of the most expensive shows being made, reportedly costing $10 million per episode. It holds the Guinness World Records for Most Pirated TV program, Largest TV Drama simulcast, Most Emmy awards for a fictional series and Most Most Emmy Awards for a drama series (110 nominations and 38 wins).
Game of Thrones wraps up in the next two seasons, with the 7-episode Season 7 starting July 16 and Season 8, with six episodes, sometime in 2018.

Gemma Whelan from ‘Game of Thrones’ auditioned to play Yara with *that* horse scene

When Yara Greyjoy reunited with her long-lost brother on Season 2 of Game of Thrones, the two did not recognize each other. They’re ignorance didn’t make the scene that followed you know, the one involving fondling and a horse any more comfortable to watch.

Well, turns out that moment was one of the scenes Gemma Whelan, who plays Yara, had to enact during her GoT audition.

There was one major difference, though: instead of Theon “working away on” Yara (Whelan’s phrasing) in the audition, Yara was “worrying on” Theon. Also, Whelan was sitting on a chair instead of a horse, but, you know, that’s to be expected.

Best of all, Whelan got to tell this whole story on Friday’s Graham Norton Show in the presence of Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, no less.

Get ready, ‘Game of Thrones’ is hosting an open casting call

    Image: helen sloan/hbo

Practice your cursing and probably playing dead Game of Thrones is reportedly casting extras in Dublin on April 8.

Well, not just Game of Thrones, but the company that handles its extras casting, The Extras Department, will host a casting call in its office for multiple projects, including Thrones.

Per the casting call, as reported by Irish Central, “This even is FREE to the public. There is no need to register and drop-ins are very much welcome.”

The Extras Department’s website proudly declares that it has cast extras on Game of Thrones since the very beginning (there’s also a terrifying but apt image of Jon Snow trying not to get trampled by dozens of them).

The catch is, obviously, you need to be in Dublin this weekend. How much are plane tickets again?

Update, 12:30 p.m. ET: Despite online reports, The Extras Department has updated their Facebook page to note this unfortunately isn’t true. “Our casting event this weekend is NOT for Game of Thrones.”

New HBO promos unite all the shows and all the ‘Game of Thrones’ characters

Hard as it is to believe, the characters on Game of Thrones are all part of one big old family: HBO. In a series of new promos featuring characters from all its original programming, the cable giant gave us a little tease of new Game of Thrones costumes, and the giant crossover show we didn’t know we wanted.

All three ads show characters laughing, singing, exhaling (and in the case of The Leftovers, smoking) until they match the the note that introduces every HBO show.

The good folks at Screencrush compiled all the Game of Thrones costumes into a handy little gallery, but you should watch the video promos for the full effect of everyone singing the same note (and Hodor contributing his usual two cents).

Summer is coming! Everything we know about new Game of Thrones so far

The absolute worst ‘Game of Thrones’ fan theories the internet could dream up

    Image: hbo

The end of Game of Thrones is imminent, but will it be loved or will it disappoint?

While that’s yet to be seen, one thing is certain: Game of Thrones fans will continue to speculate every single possible outcome, storyline, and ridiculous theory that gets floated into the ether. The center of that rumor chamber is, of course, on the Game of Thrones subreddit.

While many speculate their fantasy ending of George R.R. Martin’s story, Redditor shaylw decided it would be a fun idea to dream up the worst possible ending to the series. From hipsters playing board games to lumberjack Jon Snow, here are some of Reddit’s worst endings to Game of Thrones.

    1. The classic storyteller ending.

    2. The White Walkers aren’t the real challenge.

    3. A lot of Redditors were saying this would actually just be a great ending.

    4. Jon Snow turns into a modern day lumberjack.

    5. Nothing.

    6. It was actually just a computer simulation in Star Trek all this time.

    7. Hipsters playing board games.

    8. The same ending as Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

    9. Happily ever after.

    10. Littlefinger wins it all.

Ikea employee creates ‘Game of Thrones’ toilet fit for a king in the north

    Image: hbo

The narrative of Game of Thrones uses toilets more than you’d think.

Secrets and devious plans are passed through the sewers of King’s Landing, Tywin Lannister meets his end while pooping with the door open, and, in general, the whole of Westeros is a shitty, shitty place to live.

This beautiful creation, built by an IKEA employee in France, combines GOT‘s toilet motif with the iconic Iron Throne. What’s left is a toilet fit for a true leader. Also though, a bathroom with way too many cleaning products.

The Porcelain Throne has made it onto Reddit a few times, the most popular post courtesy of user Pirate_Redbeard, as seen below.

Another Redditor, rpmdebslack, recently posted a better view of the display.

“Oserez-vous monter sur le trne?” the display reads, which translates to “Do you dare take the throne?”

    Stay regular, Westeros.

We’re freaking out over the first ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 teaser

THIS IS NOT A DRILL: HBO has released the first promo for Game of Thrones Season 7 that actually features the characters, and we’re freaking out.

The new teaser features Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) on a long walk towards their respective thrones, ending with a chilling hint that ruling the seven kingdoms is the least of their problems.

The video doesn’t feature any episodic footage from the new season (although we’re fairly confident that Cersei, Daenerys and Jon will be walking around in Season 7), but the symbolism of the imagery is fairly clear winter is here, and the Night’s King has the power to destroy everything, from the North to King’s Landing.

For a deeper dive into the trailer and its clues about Season 7, click here.

We’re counting the days until July 16.
