‘Game of Thrones’ star Emilia Clarke reveals big spoiler

Winter’s not coming: Game of Thrones’ Jon Snow worried over lack of it

Kit Harington describes a very sad irony as the HBO show films in locations where ice is shrinking, even as his character fears the approaching winter

His character Jon Snow may fret about the arrival of winter, but Game of Thrones actor Kit Harington has said he was instead confronted by terrifying evidence of global warming while filming the HBO show.

Harington said it was a very sad irony to film in locations with diminishing ice for scenes where the arrival of winter, and the frosty undead from beyond the Wall, is feared by his character.

We went to Iceland to find snow, because winter is here, the actor told Time. We got there and we were lucky to get the snow we did, because in our world, winter is definitely not here. Its this weird parallel, the opposite parallel.

We go out there this year, and the glacier that me and Rose [Leslie, who played his love interest Ygritte] filmed on four years ago, I saw it and it has shrunk. I saw climate change and global warming with my own eyes, and it is terrifying.

Game of Thrones has used several locations in Iceland as backdrop to scenes from beyond the Wall a frigid, snow-blanketed environment where the itinerant Wildings are threatened by the advance of the undead White Walkers.

Grjotagja, a cave near the town of Akureyri, is where Snow and Ygritte sleep together, while the Svnafellsjkull and Vatnajkull glaciers are also featured.

Vatnajkull, Europes largest glacier, is estimated to be shrinking at a rate of 1 meter (3ft) a year and will probably disappear, along with Icelands other glaciers, within 100 years, a government committee has warned. This rate of decline is shared by many of the worlds largest ice sheets, with warming temperatures causing them to melt away and ultimately fuel sea level rise.

Game of Thrones also films on location in countries such as Northern Ireland, Spain and Croatia. Harington said the show, despite the misery endured by many characters, is increasingly a pleasant distraction from recent real-world events.

There is a lot of chaos in the world right now, whether its implemented by our government, purposeful chaos or not, he said. Its interesting being in a TV show that is not reflecting the world, but at the same time is.

Now, Westeros maybe feels like a nice escapism compared to what youre seeing on the news, because the worlds politics has gotten very, very dark in recent weeks and months.

The seventh season of Game of Thrones starts in July.

Every Major Tyrion Lannister Moment To Remember Before Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 Starts

In , thereare many Stark perspectives we follow hither and yon around Westeros. Likewise, since the very beginning of the story, we follow Daenerys point of view aroundEssos, learning about the continent from her perspective.

But there’s only one Lannister point of view we have cared about since the very beginning. He’s the only character other than Aryawho has traveled across the continents, and back again: Tyrion Lannister.

Tyrion has changed dramatically since the pilot in Season 1. Back then, the show attempted to dye his hair bright blonde to match Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s mop (and co-star Lena Headey’s wigs). Actor Peter Dinklagerefused to wear a beard it was actually written into his first contract lest he is considered a dwarf stereotype in a fantasy series.

Let’s see how far he’s come, and what he’s seen over these last six seasons that got him to where he is today.

Season 1: Tyrion Goes North

(No, that gif doesn’t have anything to do with this header specifically but admit it, you like watching it, too.)

When we first meet Tyrion back in the very first episode, he’s using his family name and connection to travel north with his familyand the King, as well as visit their brothels. Though he clearly loves wine and women, he’s really on this journey sohe can explore parts of Westeros he’s never seen and his plan is to go all the way to the Wall.

It’s a choice that affects him for the rest of the series. Unlike anyone else down south, his visit to the Wall in these early episodes gives hima sense ofrespect for those serving at the top of the world.

He may also be moreinclined to believe their tales of wights when the time comes. At least, that’s what we hope.

Season 1: Kidnapped By Tullys

On his way back down south, Tyrion has an unlucky moment of wrong place, wrong time, wrong Inn at the Crossroads. Catelyn Stark, who had been convinced by her sister the Lannisters are responsible for trying to kill Bran, also was staying there. The moment she sees a Lannister for the taking, *bam,* she seizes the dayand the dwarf.

It’s a moment that begins to tip the balance in Westeros towards war. But it also turns out to be a good moment for Tyrion, despite his ensuing trip to theSky Cells. He gains a champion in Bronn the Sellsword, and (for a time) a friend. Yeah, he has to pay Bron to protect him from ever letting that happen again, but money as a Lannister is something plentiful and cheap anyway.

Season 2:Temporary Hand Appointment

HBO

In Season 2, Tyrion is sent to King’s Landing, post-Ned beheading, with a message from theirfather Tywin to Cersei. Tyrion will be temporarily acting asHand of the King to Joffrey, until Tywin returns, as Cersei clearly can’t keep control of anything. She is, naturally, furious.

Tyrion takes his role seriously as the Hand. Not only in trying to handle Joffrey, which is a nearly impossible task, Tyrion also tries his hand as governing King’s Landing, firing Pycelle from the Small Council, and replacing corrupt gold cloaks like Janos Slynt.

It’s a disaster from all sides. But itteaches him the value of political appearance, it’s just too bad it’s a lesson he learns too late.

Season 2: Battle Of The Blackwater

Season 2 featured the first single-location episode of the show, Episode 9’s naval battle at Blackwater Bay. Stannis Baratheon attacks King’s Landing via the Bay, in an attempt to be named King of the Seven Kingdoms now that Robert is dead.

But Tyrion has a plan ready and waiting with wildfire. He just has to rally the troops first and survive the assassin Joffrey sends in hopes of having Tyrion killed off in battle as well.

Tyrion livesand should be considered the hero of the day, defeating Stannis’ army as well as his Navy. But only a few know the truth. Since the population hates him anyway, Tywin is all too happy to take the credit instead.

Season 3: Marriage to Sansa

HBO

Season 3 finds Tyrion at loose ends. He’s no longer Hand, and he’s treated like dirt by his family. But a misplaced sense of loyalty keeps him in King’s Landing, despite having to hide the love of his life, the former prostitute Shae, from his family.

In return, he finds himself married off to Sansa Stark, which for most would be a great prize. But Tyrion’s too tenderhearted to take advantage of the girl. And she’s too messed up by the murder of her entire family at his father’s orders to appreciate it. They could have been lovers or at least friends, but chose not to be.

Season 4: Framed For Joffrey’s Murder

This outtake gif from Tyrion’s trial does not reflect the seriousness of the charges against him. He’s not only changed with being a Kingslayer in killing Joffreybut a kin slayer as well.

Tyrion is innocent, let’s be clear on that. Joffrey’s murder was all a setup by Olenna and Littlefinger, with Sansa as a pawn, and Tyrion as the fall guy. And on some level, Tywin knows Tyrion didn’t do it. But he doesn’t care, and he doesn’t want to find out who really did it. (After all, Joffrey was a monster, and the kingdom is best rid of him anyway. Tommen is far more pliable and better all around for him.)

Tywin has always hated his dwarf son for being a dwarf, for being the childbirth that his beloved wife Johanna died in, and for having the gall to live while she died. And since the population hates Tyrion anyway due to Season 2, and Cersei is screaming for blood, it’s a popular decision to put him on trial and have him executed.

Season 4: Trial By Combat

What Tywin didn’t expect was Tyrion would demand a trial by combat; nor did he expect visiting Dornishman Oberyn Martell to step up and be his son’s champion.

But it didn’t matterbecause Oberyn wasn’t combating for Tyrion anyway. He was doing it for himself and his ego and his dead sister’s memory. So when Oberyn got carried away and got himself killed, it wasn’t that big a surprise. Same outcome, just a slightly different path, figured Tywin. Poor Tyrion. How is he going to get out of this one?

Season 4: Double Murder

Tywin didn’t take one other thing into account: Jaime. Jaime loved his brother Tyrion as much as Cersei hated him. He couldn’t bear to see his little brother go down like this. At the last minute, Jaime snuck down to the dungeons to set Tyrionfree to escape King’s Landing, never to return.

But Jaime also didn’t take one thing into account: Tyrion had been pushed to the limit by the trial. He went to his father’s chambers to demand answers. Why the farce, why? It was a bad decision. Tyrion walked in, only to discover Shae, who he believed loved him for real, was just the whore everyone insisted she was, lolling about in his father’s bed, calling him her lion instead of Tyrion.

Lost in a haze of rage, Tyrion murdered her in the bed where they had once slept together, in the Hand’s chambers.

Then he went down to the loo and did dear old dad in too.

Season 5: Kidnapped By Mormont

HBO

As one can imagine, Tyrion wasn’t really himself for a while after that. He spent the first half of Season 5 drunk as a skunk, on the road with Varys to meet some dragon lady. Sure, why not, nothing better to do, you know?

The problem was, in his haze, Tyrion wasn’t on high alert when they stopped off in Volantis. He found himself kidnapped by the now exiled Jorah Mormont, who was desperate to bring Dany a present to get back into her good graces once again.

Season 5: Joining Team Targ

A present! That’s what Tyrion Lannister was meant to be, brought by Jorah. But things didn’t go as planned. (nothing in Essos ever seems to.) First, they were attacked by Stone Men and Jorah contracted greyscale. Then they were caught by slavers and sold. Finally, they were presented in front of Daenerys as fighters for her Meereenese entertainment.

At least Tyrion was quick on his feet the moment he was given the opportunity. While Jorah futilely tried to get her attention, Tyrion presented himself as his own gift one who would fill that small council seat Ser Barristan’s death had so recently left vacant.

She accepted.

Season 6: Left To Run Meereen

But she didn’t stay long.

By the end of Season 5, Daenerys has flown the coop on the back of Drogon, leaving her husband Hizzy dead, and no one to run Meereen in her absence. Tyrion was forced to step up and try and run a city he knew nothing about. He even attempted to make friends with the dragons she left behind, too.

This time he tried to take those lessons of King’s Landing into account, and make sure his deals were as politically outward facing as they were beneficial. Unfortunately, he was dealing with slavers, which wasn’t really his forte. When they backstabbed him, he wasn’t really ready for it.

Season 6: Named Hand of The Queen

HBO

Luckily, just as Meereen might have fallen to the Masters, Dany arrived home. She and Tyrion devised a plan, and defeated all her enemiesin one fell swoop, restoring freedom to all of Slaver’s Bay. (Now renamed Dragon’s Bay.)

But Daenerys wasn’t here to sit in Meereen. After six seasons, she was ready to return to Westeros, and take Tyrion with her. Not as her advisor, but as her Hand. Finally, after working so hard, Tyrion had earned his place at the right hand of a ruler he could truly believe in.

How will things go for Tyrion went he returns to Westeros? Will he be Dany’s right-hand man? Will they be outgunned, outmanned, outnumbered, and out planned? Will he survive? Or will he be executed as a kin-slayer and a Kingslayer by the woman who beat Dany to the title of First Queen of the Andals?

Season 7 will land in Westeros on July 16, on HBO at 9 p.m. ET.

Every Epic Death Scene In ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6, Ranked Best To Worst

Season 6 ended just over a year ago this week. But with Season 7 still weeks away, how much do we really remember from last year? Who lived, who conquered, who told their story?

Wait, this is . Let’s ask the proper question: Who died?

Answer: a of people. Nearly three dozen named characters in all. Here’s a rundown of all the murder and mayhem, ranking last year’s deathsfrom the best on down.

Ramsay Bolton

The best death of the year. Not only because Ramsay Bolton made Joffrey look tame, but because of who delivered the blow.

Jon nearly beat Bolton to death, until he looked up at Sansa. Then he stepped back, and let her show she’d learned well fromher husband.

Walder Frey (& Lothar & Black Walder)

The only death to give Ramsay a run for his money. Revenge pie turned out to be a dish best served at room temperature with a smattering of large toes, soWalder could enjoy both the visual of being forced into cannibalism and the taste of unwashed feet.

And in the end, he knew his death was at Stark hands, and the debt had been paid.

Olly & Alliser Thorne

Another revenge served cold, though that’s mostly due to the weather. It was one thing for Olly to kill Ygritte right in front of Jon, but then he stepped up and delivered a stab to Jon’s heart.

As for Alliser Thorne mutiny? At his age? He should know better. Next time, boys, try not killing the man who’s the son of a dragon.

Roose Bolton (& Walda & Child)

HBO

Roose Bolton wasanother from the Red Wedding on whom we’ve needed revenge. That it was identical to the stab wound he gave Robb, but by the hand of his own bastard son? Delicious.

The Stark-Bolton family sends their regards. We won’t talk about how the dogs ate the baby.

Pycelle

Killing Pycelle separately in the finale was a nod to thescene from the books, where Varys’ Little Birds murder himin much the same manner.

Next time, maybe he shouldtry going to the Sept.

Smalljon Umber & BotB Deaths

Boltonshould have crushed Jon Snow’s forcesto death. But Sansa showed up at the right time, with a calvary based army, and ruined everything, while Tormund killed Smalljon.

This one’salmost as satisfying as watching her kill Ramsay with his own pups.

Khal Broskis

This one’s for the girls
Who’ve ever had a Khal break theirheart
Who’ve wished upon a dragonstar
When Westeros is very far

This one’s for the girls
Who need a horde to have their back
Who dream of gettin’ out of Vaes Dothrak
All around Essos and the world
This one’s for the girls

The Waif

HBO

Did anyone like the Waif? When each of these action items is done by an unrelated party, one can tell it’s not personal, it’s business.

But having the same person do all of them on the show made unrelated instances take on a menacing tone. Next time, Waif, leave your problemsat the door and your face in the hall.

Doran & Trystane + Areo Hotah

HBO

Ilike to think of these deaths as an apology for Season 5.

Balon Greyjoy

HBO

For years, readers wondered: DidBalon slip? Many whispered it was a Faceless Man who pushed him off that bridge.

Now we know. Theon’s terrible father was killed by his equally terrible brother. Now, Yara has an insaneuncle tweeting at 6 o’clock in the morning about the latest on the Iron Islands that are reporting, and how stories from the mainland are fake news.

Brother Ray (& Lem Lemoncloak)

HBO

Our One Episode Wonder, Ian McShane arrivedfor just a single episode, then he was murdered by Lem Lemoncloak.

At least McShane made an impression during his short time on screen. Lemoncloak is only remembered because the Hound went after him toavenge Brother Ray.

Lady Crane

HBO

If Catelyn Stark played Cersei Lannister for a living.

Perhaps that’s why Aryawent rogue on the jobsite saving Lady Crane becauseshe couldn’t save her mother. But once a name has been entered into Salesforce, it is owed to the Many Faced God, so he can have that project marked complete.

The Blackfish

HBO

The man who missed the Red Wedding because he was answering the call of nature finally was allowed to go off and meet his maker.

In the end, he got to die with honor. It’s more than will probably be said for Edmure.

Osha & Rickon & Shaggydog

Not Tonks! She was nothing more than a good sweet Hufflepuff girl who loved a werewolf. Oh right, actually Osha wasn’t sorted into Hufflepuff. But we know she would have been, had Hogwarts school district covered north of the Wall instead of stopping in Scotland.

As for Rickon, looks like Osha never taught him to run, baby run, baby run, baby run.

Tommen

Hush now, baby, baby, don’t you cry
Mama’s gonna make King’s Landing’s nightmares come true
Mama’s gonna put the Lannister insanity into you
Mama’s gonna keep you right herein the Red Keep
She won’t let you have Marg, but she might let youweep
Mama’s gonna keep babyfrom going to the Sept

Ooh, babe
Ooh, babe
Ooh, babe
Of course Mama’s gonna let the Wall fall.

Wun Wun

A giant can only be so much of a pincushion. If there was a VIP of the BotB other than Sansa, it would go toWun Weg Wun Dar Wun, known to his friends as Wun Wun.

But despite his trendy ruff of arrows being as hipster as they come, firing one into his eye was just one too many. Sleep well, my gentle giant. Sleep well, and dream of large women.

Hodor & Summer & Leaf & The Three-Eyed Raven

Caught in a time loop of Bran’s own making, this season’s most heartbreaking deaths were those of Leaf, Summer, The Three-Eyed Raven and Hodor.

All this had happened before, and all this will happen again. Hodor trapped in his own mind, being murdered by wights forever, holding the door in his own memory, so the boy who hadn’t even been born yet could survive.

The Great Sept of Baelor Remodel

Tyrells and Lannisters and Sparrows, oh my! This scene was so spectacular, Ramin Djawadi broke out a piano. In one fell swoop, Cersei killed off:

  • Margaery
  • Loras
  • Mace
  • Kevan
  • Lancel
  • High Sparrow
  • Faith Militant
  • A goodly portion of the population that laughed at her at theWalk of Shame

Oh and these guys, who werekilled by the bell. I believe their names were Zach and Screech?

I’m pretty sure Freydidn’t even kill off that many people in the Red Wedding.

Is there any way that can top this in Season 7? We can’t wait to find out.

The Hound From ‘Game Of Thrones’ Is Totally Unrecognizable In Real Life

saw a slew of deaths last season from the highborn Margaery Tyrell to wolves like Summer and Shaggydog but we also we also saw the case of The Hound Who Lived.

Left for dead at the end of Season 4 by Arya Stark after his fight with Brienne of Tarth, most fans of the show assumed that was the end of actor Rory McCann’s character, aka Sandor Clegane. But last season surprised us all with the return of the character who had been found and nursed back to health by Brother Ray, played by Ian McShane.

But while we were all over the moon to recognize The Hound as part of the cast once more, McCann is pleased to be able to slip in and out of filming unnoticed. After all, he looks nothing like his character.

Here he is in Season 1:

HBO

Here he is in Season 6:

HBO

And here’s what Rory McCann looks like in real life.

Hanging out with Maisie Williams, natch!

HBO/Instagram

The Hound cleans up quite nicely!

As for how playing the Hound has been for McCann, he admitted recently this was the hardest season yet in terms of fighting. As he told The Express: I’m sore.

He also hinted The Hound would be meeting up with more of the characters from the show this year:

I’ve been socialising and working with more actors, which is a good thing [Bu] I think my body can only take one more season, I’m sore.

Who exactly has McCann been working with? What fights are making him so sore? Though fans would love to hear he’s heading to King’s Landing for the long awaited Cleganbowl the photos suggest The Hound is far North of there, and in fact will be part of Jon Snow’s coalition, fighting the Night King beyond the Wall.

returns July 16, on HBO at 9 p.m. ET.

Trailer For Marvels New Show Inhumans Features This Game Of Thrones Villain

What do a lunar civilization, a giant teleporting dog, and a parade of the strangest wigs ever made all have in common? Well, you’re about to find out.

Our first look at the newest Marvel TV show is finally here. The superhero franchise just dropped its first trailer for its upcoming show, and it looks crazy intense.

In the clip, we meet the Inhuman Royal Family, the leaders of a civilizationof superhumans. They are led by Black Bolt, a powerful king who can destroy things with his voice, so heremains silent nearly all of the time. He’s played by Anson Mount, who is best known in my mind as Britney Spears’ love interest in.

Paramount Pictures

But all is not well in the Inhumans family, as Black Bolt’s brother Maximus leads an uprising to usurp the throne. If this families feuding for power stuff all sounds very, that’s because it is Maximus is played by Iwan Rheon, best known for making viewers everywhere wonderWow, maybe Joffrey wasn’tbad? with his role as Ramsay Bolton.

Other main characters include Black Bolt’s wife Medusa (Serinda Swan), his cousin Gorgon (Eme Ikwakor), his cousin Karnak (Ken Leung), and Medusa’s sister Crystal (Isabelle Cornish)

Marvel

But the real star of the trailer isthe giant teleporting dog, because like if there’s a giant teleporting dog in something, of course that’s going to be the star.

We get a glimpse at the CGI-created Lockjaw, Crystal’s mammoth canine companion we see teleporting Black Bolt out of the lunar base during Maximus’ uprising and onto Earth.

Marvel

The series will follow the Inhuman Royal Family as they are exiled to Earth after Maximus’ coup, as they attempt to save themselves and the world in Hawaii.

We also get a look at some of the family’s superpowers in the clip. Though we don’t see Crystal controlling the elements or Medusa controlling her hair, Gorgon shows off his ability to create seismic waves and Black Bolt lets out a grunt that sends a police car flying.

is getting a unique release for a television show. The eight-episode series will play on IMAX screens starting on September 1 before it premieres on ABC on September 29.

Sophie Turner hopes the controversy about that ‘Game of Thrones’ rape scene will spark real discussion

Global warming is taking a toll on winter in ‘Game of Thrones,’ Kit Harington warns

Image: Helen Sloan/hbo

Winter may be coming, but it’s getting milder with time, according to “Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington. In an interview with Time Magazine, Harington, who plays Jon Snow on the hit show, says he’s increasingly concerned about the impacts of global warming, which affected filming of the hit HBO show this past year.

Climate change has long been a theme of the show, with the threat posed by a long-lasting, cataclysmic winter season sweeping in from Winterfell, blasting through many other parts of the world that stems from author George RR Martin’s active imagination.

Except that, according to Harington, the fear of winter seems misplaced given what is actually happening to our very real planet right now.

Last year was the warmest year on record globally, beating the two prior years to take this title.

Global warming-related shifts in weather conditions has made filming wintry scenes for “Game of Thrones” increasingly difficult, Harington said.

“The one irony I found this year, it was a very sad irony: We went to Iceland to find snow, because winter is here,” Harington told Time.

“We got there and we were lucky to get the snow we did, because in our world, winter is definitely not here. Its this weird parallel[,] the opposite parallel. We go out there this year, and the glacier that me and Rose [Leslie] filmed on four years ago, I saw it and it has shrunk,” he said.

“I saw climate change and global warming with my own eyes, and it is terrifying,” Harington said.

Global warming is causing glaciers to recede around the world, raising sea levels and imperiling coastal cities. During the 2016-17 winter season, several unusual storms swept into the Arctic from the North Atlantic, bringing record or near-record warmth to places including Iceland, Norway, Greenland, and even the North Pole.

‘Game of Thrones’ will make the internet ‘melt’ this season according to ‘Time’

‘Game of Thrones’ fans are about to converge at Con of Thrones

Night gathers, and for Game of Thrones fans, their watch started a verylong time ago.

Ahead of season 7 many have analyzed every second of footage, scrutinizedphotos to read ancient texts, and shared their predictions and theories online. Although the show will be ending in the next few years, HBO is working on five successor show concepts to Game of Thrones, which are all in the early stages, but any of them could potentially (eventually) make it to TV. For fans of A Song of Ice and Fire, the book series on which Game of Thrones is based, their watch might be even longer. The final two books in the series have no publication date in sight.

And this weekendwhich coincidentally occurs just two weeks before Game of Thrones returns to TVsome of these fanswill converge at the crossroads in Nashville, Tennessee, for Con of Thrones, a convention geared toward fans of the show, the books, and the vast fantasy world that George R.R. Martin created. And although its not the first Game of Thrones-themed convention to hit the circuit (Ice and Fire Con has been around since 2013), Con of Thrones is arriving at, as co-founder Zack Luye describes it, a pretty unique time.

This would be like if were at the part between Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince, he explained.

The Harry Potter comparison for Luye, who co-hosts Game of Owns and PotterCast, is a natural one to make; he grew up with Harry Potter fandom. It’s also where he first met Melissa Anellithe webmistress of the Leaky Cauldron, whose company, Mischief Management, has spearheaded fandom conventions like LeakyCon, GeekyCon, and Broadway Con.

When Luye first started exploring the idea of Con of Thrones nearly two years agoroughly around the time Game of Owns hosted a live podcast during New York Comic Con 2015Anelli, who also made the Half-Blood Prince connection, was one of the first people he approached.

It’s such a vivid fandom, and it’s just the right time for a convention, Anelli said. People have asked, why now? Why not now? There isn’t a big flagship convention like this for Game of Thrones, and it’s just at the right time. Two more books, two more series, there’s going to be a spinoff. The Game of Thrones world is not even close to ending, so it’s the perfect time to get real-world gatherings going like this.

First announced just over a year ago, Luye and Anelli wanted to have an all-encompassing convention that serviced every kind of fan and allowed fans who might not normally attend conventions like this to be at home and make friends. Several Game of Thrones podcasts will be hosting live shows, while many of the panels scheduled for the weekend were submitted by fans. They’re able to hear panelists discuss everything from spoilers and theories to the show’s themes, character arcs, and thoughts on which spinoffs HBO should make. The panels are part of a larger process from Luye of getting as much input as he could from others. (Full disclosure: I’ll be participating in some of the panels.)

But thats not the only thing fans will be able to do. Several Game of Thrones actors, including Iwan Rheon, Kerry Ingram, and Kate Dickie and sound designer Paula Fairfield will be in attendance for panels, spotlights, autograph sessions, and photo opps. (Two other special guests, Carice van Houten and swordmaster Tommy Dunne, were initially scheduled but had to cancel.) Miltos Yerolemou, who played fan-favorite Syrio Forel on the shows first season, is teaching a water dancing class.

I wanted to make sure that we created an atmosphere that would celebrate what’s happening right now in the TV show but also whats going to happen in the next season, Luye said. Because it’s only two weeks after the convention. And also what will hopefully happen in The Winds of Winter.

Con of Thrones settled on Nashville (and the Gaylord Opryland) in part because of how it would allow many of the fans who wanted to go to travel by car for the convention instead of having to fly in like they usually do with coastal-based conventions. But another aspect to it was capturing the right atmosphere the Gaylord itself, whichminus the modern amenitiescould easily fit in with the Dornish stronghold of Sunspear or the Westerosi capital itself.

It’s got a very King’s Landing feel, Anelli said. And it just feels like you’re in an environment as opposed to a hotel, which is going to be great for the people who are there for the entire weekend because they can just lounge and be with their friends and be in their cosplay and going to lots of events and having a great time. And then it won’t feel like you’ve left the world once you’ve walked out of the ballroom.

Con of Thrones starts on June 30 and runs until July 2 in Nashville. Tickets for all three days are still available to purchase.

Jessica Henwick almost missed ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 7 while filming ‘Iron Fist’

Image: helen sloan/hbo

If you watched Iron Fist (our condolences), the highlight by far was Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing. But before she was cast in the Netflix Marvel-verse, Henwick portrayed Nymeria Sand of Dorne on Game of Thrones, and she wasn’t sure she could return for Season 7.

I wasnt able to do it, Henwick told Entertainment Weekly. My schedule clashed. I was filming Iron Fist for six-to-seven months and they wouldnt give me the time off. [GoT] was so massive for me in terms of my career and building my profile and as an experience in itself, I wanted to return.”

Henwick recalled a producer telling her, “Its really important that you come back otherwise your character will just disappear,” which isn’t a threat when you’re on a show where characters die in the thousands.

“So I spoke to Marvel and I managed to get a release,” Henwick said in the EW interview. “I literally was flying back and forth while I was doing Iron Fist in New York to Belfast, even during Christmas break.

Nymeria is currently in Dorne with her sisters, the other Sand Snakes, and Ellaria Sand. They’ve been approached by Olenna Tyrell, who seeks vengeance against Cersei Lannister for the deaths of Margaery, Loras, and Mace Tyrell.

Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres July 16.

Game Of Thrones Littlefinger Actor Finally Confirms That Arya Theory From Season 2

One of the biggest reunions fans are expecting to see in Season 7 is all the living Stark children arriving back home in Winterfell for the first time since Season 1.

But so many of the Starks have changed over the years, specifically Bran, who got hit with the puberty stick pretty hard, and Arya, who has been to Essos and back.

Will anyone even know it’s them?

Well, one person in Winterfell might know Arya, as he’s seen her more recently than her brothers and sisters. Littlefinger, who you might remember, stopped by Harrenhal in Season 2 for some wheeling and dealing with Tywin Lannister.

At the time Arya was working as Tywin’s cupbearer. Tywin knew she was a northerner and high-born to boot. But he didn’t know she was northerner or highborn, or he would never have let her escape. But then again, he hadn’t been in King’s Landing the season prior to actually know her as Ned Stark’s daughter.

Littlefinger, on the other hand, had not only just been in King’s Landing and seen her regularly, he also knew Arya had gone missing the day Ned was killed. Arya certainly recognized the man who got her father arrested. But did he recognize her?

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Aidan Gillen (who plays Littlefinger) says at the time they filmed that scene, he was acting as thoughLittlefinger knew exactly who she was. and said nothingbecause he realized Tywin did not. And there’s nothing Littlefinger loves more than knowing something his opponents do not.

He revealed,

It was unclear if he recognized her or not, but I have my own thoughts on that., I did recognize her I just didn’t say anything or do anything about it.

How will that affect things in Season 7? Gillen isn’t saying.

I finished last season on a promising note by laying my cards on the table at least to Sansa. I was [sowing seeds of doubt about Jon Snow] throughout my appearances in Season 6, and, yeah, that will continue. It’s pretty obvious what my game is there. We’re playing out that final exchange in the Great Hall in Winterfell. But the same time my character is becoming quite aware that Sansa is becoming as bright as me and just as wary of my manipulations of her. They’re onto each other. They use each other. They enjoy each other. And they keep a lot from each other. There are all kinds of mixed things going on with Littlefinger and his relationship with Sansa, so watching her grow in stature is quite enjoyable.

Will Littlefinger draw Arya into his game? Will he try and turn the sisters against each other? Will have to wait to find out on July 16, when returns to HBO.

‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 Ultimate Trailer Details The Lannister-Targaryen War — WATCH

We’re less than three weeks away from the premiere of Season 7. Both major full-length trailers have dropped, as well as a few featurettes featuring small glimpses of scenes from the upcoming season.

But how much footage do we really have so far? Though it feels like hundreds of pictures have flooded the internet, the truth is, it’s only 65 or so, and most are from the first two episodes.

As for footage, it turns out we have about 3.5 minutes altogether. Here’s fan-made trailer putting it all in one place.

But this trailer only combines the footage together, it doesn’t give us an overall narrative of what we’ve seen so far which is where our ultimate super trailer comes in.

This next fan didn’t just combine all the footage we’ve seen sofar. He or she sat down and, using what spoilers we know from filming, plus common sense logic, attempted to reorder all the footage we have in a chronological, narrative order.

The results are astounding. We already know a fight is brewing between Cersei Lannister’s forces and Daenerys Targaryen’s invading armies. But these clips, put in what is assumed to be the correct order, suggest this Lannister-Targaryen Warwill have nothing on what we’ve seen so far in the previous six seasons. And that’s saying something.

Note that we also have quite a bit of footage from a second battle, the one I’m dubbing Hardhome Part 2 until I get a better name for it. This is the one that includes Jon Snow and a squad that includes Tormund, The Hound, Beric Dondarrion and his flaming sword. We also have quite a bit of fighting at sea, which looks to be a Greyjoy vs Greyjoy battle that happens prior to the massive Lannister-Targaryen War.

can’t get here fast enough. C’mon July 16!

Jaime Lannister From ‘Game Of Thrones’ Shares His Best Dating App Advice — WATCH

With only a few short weeks away, all the stops are out in the promotional department. Actors are headlining cover stories for magazines, like Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, for example, whose brand new cover story for GQ just dropped.

Coster Waldau is full of useful adviceabout being famous in the article. When you’re on your bicycle, no one looks for you, for example. You know, practical advice. He also states he expects the next couple of seasons on to end in a lot of death.

Said advice also extends to dating apps and social media, among other things. Check out the video, as Coster-Waldau runs down some of Jaime’s more intimate opinions.

Some juicy tidbits about Jaime Lannister’s social media life in Westeros: He’s a big fan of SnapChat. (No word on how Myrcella or Tommen felt about their father-uncle in rabbit ears though.)

Apparently, Jaime’s preferred profile pictures on dating apps are painted portraits, which sounds like a good idea, until you consider if you need a frame within the frame, as it were, to be part of your avi.

Despite his devotion to Cersei, Jaime is on Westeros’ version of Tinder. According to Coster-Waldau, he always swipes left though whether that’s to keep women safe from Cersei’s jealousy is unknown. He insists the only way to get his attention is to be related. Closely related.

Some other interesting tidbits: Jaime apparently went vegan a couple of years back sounds like something that coincided with the loss of Jaime’s hand and the reduction in his workout routine. It clearly forced him to find new and more hipstery ways to stay healthy. He apparently makes exceptions for Danish pastries, though.

I suppose perhaps learning to cook such things in a castle kitchen just might be the way to his heart but only if Cersei throws him aside first, natch.

Season 7 premieres July 16 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.

‘American Horror Story’ Finally Confirms Whether Or Not Lady Gaga Is In Season 7

Puppies and kittens playing together. Nachos. The musical stylings of Carly Rae Jepsen.

None of these have anything to do with what is written below, I just wanted to send good thoughts your way before I tell you has confirmed Lady Gaga will not be returning for the upcoming season of .

That’s right. Despite recent rumors that have suggested otherwise, Mother Monster will officially be returning for Season 7 of our favorite twisted and sadistictelevision series.

Recently, an fan account on Twitter got the attention of the show’s fans and little monsters alike when it tweeted a photo of an allegedly leaked article confirming Gaga’s part in the upcoming season.

The article said,

[Gaga will] return for an undisclosed role in the election-themed 2017 series set to debut in September.

Gaga’s roles in Season 5 as The Countess and Season 6 as the OG supreme were amazing. Like, Golden Globe amazing. So, of course, the excitement took off pretty quickly as people started wondering what her new role might be in the election-themed forthcoming season.

Sadly, though, we were alllet down to find out the rumors were not true, and Gaga will not be vying for another Globe for this year’s cycle.

The rumor was denied after director Ryan Murphy uploaded a new teaser for Season 7 to his Instagram with the caption AHS SEASON 7 clue: ambidexterity.

And, while we can’t expect to see Gaga dive deep into a new sinister character this season, we will definitely see our faves Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Cheyenne Jackson take on new roles, which is consoling enough for now.

This is sad, yes, but can we really blame Mother Monster? I mean, she’s super busy planning a tour, filming a movie, and ignoring our many requests for a music video for The Cure. Maybe Ryan Murphy can make it up to us by getting Jessica Lange back?

12 Major Arya Stark Moments You Need To Remember Before ‘Game Of Thrones’ Returns

There are very few characters in Westeros who we straight-up root for. Partly becauseit’s an emotionally dangerous thing to do.

We rooted for Ned Stark. We rooted for Robb Stark. And look how that turned out. Heck, we rooted for Jon Snow, and nearly had the same thing happen.

Arya Stark, on the other hand, is different. When it comes to underdogs, Arya is the doggiest. A misfit tomboy girl, in a society where that isn’t acceptable, she saw her family crushed under the wheels of power at a tender age.

And yet, Arya has never let the bastards grind her down. This season, she’s back in Westeros, and she’s ready to fight. Let’s review how a girl became such a deadly force to be reckoned with.

Season 1: Stick Em With The Pointy End

HBO

Jon Snow doesn’t smile much. One of the few times he did in Season 1 was when he gave his favorite little half-sister a sword. After seeing her dreams of being a fighter, he decided she could use one before leaving Winterfell.

Acknowledging this was her version of the ladylike arts, she named it Needle.

Season 1: AryaGets Dance Lessons

Once Arya had a sword, it became obvious to Ned she better learn how to use it before she got herself killed. These were her version of dancing lessons that ladies of her station would get. Syrio Forel was her dancing instructor. He taught her well, and when the time came, he died to make sure she escaped.

Season 1: Escaping King’s Landing

It was all a game to Arya at first. Needle for a needle, dancing lessons instead of dancing lessons. It was fun. Until the day she saw her father publicly executed in front of the Sept of Baelor.

Suddenly it was no longer a game. These were lessons Arya would need to survive. And she was going to survive, long enough to kill every last name on her list who were responsible for the death of those she loved.

Season 2:The Ghost of Harrenhal

HBO

Season 2 saw Arya first masquerading as Arry, as Yoren attempted to get her to North and safety. Instead, Yoren was killed, and shewound up in Harrenhal, where Tywin recognized her as a girl (but blessedly not which girl) and made her his cupbearer.

While Arya plotted an escape, she met a Faceless Man, named Jaqen H’ghar. She whispered a name, and he killed them for her. It was a different sort of education, one that taught her killing for a living was a skill she could be taught. When H’ghar left, he gave her a coin and told her where to go if she ever wanted to pursue that life.

Season 3: Arya &The Hound

If Season 2 was all about Arya learning about Faceless Men and the banality of evil at the feet of Tywin Lannister, Season 3 was all about her cross country road trip with The Hound.

The Hound furthered Arya’s education, teaching her how to be a mercenary, and more importantly, how to kill with impunity. They spent nearly two seasons togetherand would have been the best spinoff hadthey lasted.

Season 4:Killing Polliver

The first major death from Arya’s oft-recited list, Polliver was a character most people wouldn’t remember. One of those millions of faces from casts of Westerosi thousands, but Arya remembered him. She swore to kill him.

And when he made the mistake of crossing her path again, Arya didn’t let the Hound take him down. After all, he’s stolen her sword. As for killing, shediscovered it really was as easy as sticking him with the pointy end.

Season 4: Arya Abandons The Hound

HBO

Arya spent two seasons learning at the Hound’s feet. She rode with him to the Twins and away again when she learned her family was dead. She rode with him to the Eyrie and away again when she learned her aunt was dead.

But somewhere along the way, things changed. The Hound grew attached. When Brienne showed up, full of self-righteous nonsense about protecting Arya, when the Hound knew such protection would likely get her killed, he fought Brienne to the death. His death.

Arya perhaps could have stayed by his side as he died. She could have put him out of his misery. But The Hound had taught her how to treat those who are dead. Steal all their money and leave them to rot. She learned it by watching you, Hound.

Season 5: The House of Black and White

With nowhere else to go, no family and nothing to live for, Arya crossed the Narrow Sea and took herself to the House of Black and White (LLC) for training.

At first, the Faceless Men did not believe her to be serious. Nor did they think she would be that good a hire, despite her resume and what references they could contact. (Apparently they couldn’t get hold of the Hound, he never returned calls).

But after she wouldn’t leave, they gave up and let her in, if for no other reason than having random homeless people living on their front steps muttering lists of names would cause unwanted attention from the city council and social workers. Arya was now accepted to train in the assassin’s guild.

Season 5: AGirl Is Blinded

Arya was a terrible student. She lied. She cheated. She ignored the Google Doc handbooks she was sent. She didn’t really care about the tasks at hand, she just wanted to learn how to kill for her own ends.

But that’s not how the Faceless Men work. They’re running a business. They need their independent contractors to be able to lose their sense of self, so they canpass unseen by the eyes around them.

At first, Arya seemed to be getting into it. That is, until her first mission, where another of her quarries, Meryn Trant, just so happened to cross her path. She forgot everything in a sea of red rage. She abandoned her plans, stole a face from the Hall, and murdered Trant in a scene straight out of Tarantino totally counterproductive to her cumulative score for her first kill test.

The Faceless Men couldn’t have that. As punishment for her trespasses (and for failing her original assignment after all, they’re running a client-based small business here) Arya was blinded.

Season 6: Trying To Be No One

HBO

Despite blinding her, theFaceless Men did not give up on Arya yet. (After all, they’d already invested time and money into her training, and processed herW-9.) And Arya did not give up on trying to be what they wanted either. She threw herself into being a blind beggar on the streets of Braavos. She trained hard with the Waif, working to let go of her past life, and move on to being No One. It was therapy with a side of bruising.

And for a short time, it seemed to be working. At least, it worked well enough that Arya was given her sight backand a new assignment.

Season 6: Arya Stark of Winterfell

But within an episode or two, it was obvious Arya was never going to work well in a service-based economy. On her next assignment, she not only failed to meet her required goals, she dipped into negative productivity, and got her own client arrested for the murder she failed to carry out. She even found herself shacked up with her intended victim after getting attacked by the Waif for the damaging reviews on Braavosi Yelp that this must have caused.

But learning what sort of career one is best at is part of growing up. And while Arya might not be so good at the whole murder for hire gig, she is good at the murder part, as the Waif learned in their final showdown. The House of Black and White LLC just wasn’t the right career path for her. She headed back to Westeros with a renewed purpose.

Season 6: Killing In The Name Of

At the end of last season, Arya Stark turned up in Westeros. She’d put all her Faceless Men training skills to work for her. Wearing a face of a kitchen maid, she silently killed Walder Frey’s two oldest sons, cooked them up in a fresh meat pie, which she served to him. Revenge (and pie) are dishes best served cold and full of toes. ( has an episode on this, I’m sure.)

But unlike a real Faceless Man, before she killed him, she ripped off the face she wore and showed Walder Frey her true one. She wanted him to know it was a Stark who killed himand to look into her eyes as she died.

How many more names on Arya’s list will she get through before the end of Season 7? We look forward to finding out when returns July 16, at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.

Cersei Lannister From ‘Game Of Thrones’ Looks Totally Different In Real Life

For those who might not be aware, official timeline supposedly takes place over a period of three years Westeros-length years, that is.

The six seasons of TV feel like a lifetime though, and for some characters, their looks have changed radically as the show has gone on.

Let us recall how Cersei Lannister looked when we first met her in the year 298 AC.

HBO

Long blonde hair, doneup in the Southron style with twist braids down the sides.

Though she’s wearing the Baratheon gold and browns of her husband’s house, underneath, the Lannister red lurks, waiting to break out. Which it did, just as soon as that pesky husband of her died.

HBO

Compare these looks to the one she sported at the end of Season 6 last year.

Dressed in all black, to reflect the interior of her heart, with a pixie cut which would make Mia Farrow weep with envy.

Although Cersei seems to change her looks as often as Dany adds cities to her just conquered list, they’re still fantastic disguises that what actress Lena Headey looks like in real life.

Yes, unlike Cersei, Lena Headey is dark haired. The only resemblance to our thoroughly modern Cersei is Headey has a fondness for pixie cuts.

Perhaps she’s rubbing off on her character a little after all these years?

Then again, maybe not.

Check them out side by side:

HBO/Instagram

One thing we can see from Headey’s Instagram picture on the right: she’s got the same intensity as Cersei.

But when it comes to Season 7, Headey doesn’t think Cersei’s got too much of a shot at remaining Queen of the Andals.

I’m left to wonder who’s going to take her down. She may only be there for a second
Not a chance in hell [she’ll stay on the Iron Throne]. It’s a moment of punctuation in the madness.

We’re looking forward to more madness come next season. arrives July 16, 2017 on HBO at 9 p.m. ET.
