South Korea made their election night coverage ‘Game of Thrones’ themed and we are inspired

It may still be too soon to talk about anything election related, but here we go.

America’s election night coverage traditionally involves a lot of political analysts walking around a brightly lit set swathed in some sort of red, white, and blue color scheme. There’s a lot of talking while standing next to touch screen TVs, gesturing at demographic maps and looking at bar graphs.

Over in South Korea, they approach election night coverage a little differently. For example, for Tuesday’s election one network decided to make their election updates entirely Game of Thrones themed, complete with candidate faces expertly superimposed over all the major characters from the show.

This sounds strange and improbable, but just watch some of it and you’ll realize how great it is.

The drama! The intrigue! The dragon!

What we appreciate most is clearly how much time this network put into creating this. They redid the Game of Thrones logo to read, “Big Election Game: Searching for the Throne.” They changed the show’s intro map to show the map of Korea. They had candidates literally jousting each other.

Truly, this is a masterpiece. We can only hope that U.S. networks will learn from this shining beacon of an example and improve election coverage in the future. And if you need theme ideas, we’re always here to help.
