It can’t be easy to be an actor on a show like. Sure, you’re on the most popular show on television, but with all those surprise deaths, you can never really be sure for how long. I mean, remember when we all assumed Ned Starkwas going to be the main character of the whole series?
Luckily, the actors have figured out a way to tell if they are getting killed off or not: it all comes down to who’s on the phone.

After the first two tragic deaths of Season 7, Jessica Henwick (who played Nymeria Sand) revealed how she knew her character was going to die before the words were even spoken to her. She told Entertainment Weekly every actor knows it’s the end when both showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, are on the line for a phone call.
I was in New York filming and I got a call from [showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss], the double Ds. As soon as you hear that more than one of them is on the call you know what that means. If it’s just one they’re probably talking about the story. But if it’s both of them then you .
Sure enough, that was the call in which they let Henwick know Nymeria and her older sister Obara Sand were doomed to die in this season’s second episode. Fans saw the gruesome deaths played out at the end of Sunday’s episode, when Euron Greyjoy stormed the Sand’s ship and killed Nymeria and Obara Sand, before taking their little sister Tyene and their mother Ellaria hostage.

It is nice both showrunners call each actor for an official goodbye before they leave the show, but it’s got to be so painful to pick up the phone and hear both of those voices, and just know right away that your time is up.
