No ‘super-sized’ ‘Game of Thrones’ episodes, but record-length episodes 6 and 7 in Season 7

We’re all panicked about having seven Game of Thrones episodes this season instead of the usual 10, and while they aren’t fully making up for lost time, there’s hope yet. The episodes are all around one-hour exactly, and the final two are the longest the show has ever had.

Below are the episode run times:

Episode 1: 59 minutes
Episode 2: 59 minutes
Episode 3: 63 minutes
Episode 4: 50 minutes
Episode 5: 59 minutes
Episode 6: 71 minutes
Episode 7: 81 minutes

The last two in particular are records for the show; previously, the longest episode to date was Season 6’s “The Winds of Winter,” coming in at a whopping 68 minutes. Even the series finale of The Leftovers, which HBO aired on Sunday, took 77 minutes to wrap everything up.

The Watchers on the Wallclaims this is the longest run time for seven episodes of Game of Thrones. Season 7 is seven hours and 20 minutes HBO’s ownBig Little Lieslasted seven episodes that added up to less than six-and-a-half hours.

So, they’re not all super-sized episodes, but the inflated final episodes are sure to provide an epic season finale which, to be fair, Thrones always does.
